What to expect at the 2025 Campus Ministry Summit

WHAT

The Campus Ministry Summit is an annual gathering of Cru partners and friends. We come together to learn about and celebrate what the Lord is doing in the lives of students and faculty all around the world.  

Participants will meet and hear from national and international ministry leaders, learn about today’s students (generation z) and the forces that have shaped the way they think and live.  You will discover that they are open to the gospel and responding to the love of God.

Cru’s Three-Year Campus Strategic Initiatives will also be reviewed with opportunities for involvement in personal ministry in the U.S. and abroad, as well as opportunities to invest financially should the Lord so lead.

WHEN

The Campus Ministry Summit event is from Friday, April 9, 2027 to Sunday, April 11, 2027
Early arrival activities are available in the morning on Friday April 9, 2027

WHERE

The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

COST

Guest accommodations, breakfast and evening dinners are provided at no cost by Campus Ministry. Discounted room rates are available for early arrival and late departure two days before and two days after at your own expense.

 

AIRPORT INFORMATION

The resort can be less than 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, only a short trip from Downtown Phoenix and Old Town Scottsdale – or a million miles from a single care in the world. 

TRANSPORTATION

You can either rent a car or limo or take an Uber/Lyft from the Airport.

Bring your child in comfortable clothing so they can best enjoy their time. The Squad will have dinner together in our camp meeting room, enjoying kid-friendly fare. The Squad will be open 15 minutes before the adult session begins and 15 minutes afterwards. Our hope is that you can relax knowing that your child is loving Adventure Camp.

DR. HEATHER HOLLEMAN (YOUR HOST)

DR. HEATHER HOLLEMAN an associate teaching professor of advanced writing at Penn State, speaker, and author. She has written ten books, including the bestseller Seated with Christ: Living Freely in a Culture of Comparison, and an award-winning book on evangelism (cowritten with her husband, Ashley Holleman) called Sent: Living a Life That Invites Others to Jesus. Heather’s book, The Six Conversations: Pathways to Connecting in an Age of Isolation and Incivility, helps fight the loneliness epidemic by inviting readers to enjoy better conversations. Her most recent fiction series helps young readers discover they are already seated at the best table with Jesus. The first book in this series, This Seat’s Saved, won Christianity Today’s Book of the Year in the Young Adult category. The following books, The Disappearing Seat and The Elite Seat, explore the themes from Seated with Christ for middle school audiences. Heather also serves with Faculty Commons in the professor ministry of Cru. She and her husband have two daughters and three cats. When she’s not writing or teaching, Heather is growing plum trees, looking for turtles in the woods, or gathering with friends for dinner and a movie.

SHANNON COMPERE

Shannon joined staff in 1991 and has served in the Campus Ministry at the University of South Carolina, East Tennessee State as a Team Leader, then as the National Director of Field Missions for the Red River Region based in Austin, Texas. There she met her husband, Marc, who is now an engineering professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. They moved to Orlando in 2007 when Shannon accepted the role of Executive Director of Leadership Development for the Campus Ministry.  While working full-time, she earned her Masters in Leadership Development from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Worldwide. Currently, she serves as the Campus Ministry Executive Director.

Shannon and Marc are both passionate about reaching students and faculty around the world with the gospel and are committed to seeing people transformed. They love doing ministry together and especially enjoy participating in summer missions with students both in the US and abroad and have been to 18 countries together.

Kids’ Club and Kids’ Squad

Each child is made in the image of God.  It is our mission to value your child as a precious gift from God, teach them about this truth and to let them in on what God is doing through other children and adults around the world–and, ultimately, to share how God desires to live in and through them, too.
 

KIDS’ CLUB (0-4)

These ages are amazing. Your child is learning, learning they have value. Learning to talk, walk and explore. Therefore, we will provide a safe, loving environment for your child to explore through play, stories, music and crafts. Loving them in your absence. Our hope is that you can relax and take the time to enjoy the weekend knowing that we deeply value your child and plan to care for them as one loved by God.


KIDS’ SQUAD (GRADES K-5)

This age group plays and learns simultaneously. So, we plan to play hard, and all the while teach them that they are precious children of God and that God has a wonderful adventure in store for them. Our high energy leaders will create an atmosphere of learning and having fun at the same time.

POLLY ANTHONY | KIDS ADVENTURE CAMP

Polly Anthony has served with Cru for 25 years, half of those in campus ministry overseas. Her joy is preparing and caring for staff and families living cross-culturally. She is currently a Summer Mission care coordinator and Family Care consultant and lives in Austin. She is married to Steve and they have 3 grown children.

For Middle and High School Students

(GRADES 6-12)

Bring your teenager! Teen Summit is a conference within a conference. Middle and high school students are loved by God, have an incredible future and with God living in and through them, can influence their peers for the Kingdom. They are a force of nature that God can use right now, wherever they are in their spiritual journey.

Coordinated by the staff of Cru’s Middle School and High School Ministry, the weekend is filled with fun, fellowship, and of course, Gospel-centered teaching. This weekend is a time of concentrated discipleship to learn how to share the Gospel, study the Bible (not just read it), and gain vision of what Biblical stewardship looks like as a teenager. Our hope is that you can confidently know your teen is being given a chance to step closer to the heart of God and leave with deeper ways of relating to Him.

Nicole Staggs | Teen Summit

Nicole Staggs has been on staff with Cru’s High School Ministry since 2014. Born and raised in Kansas, she now works at Cru’s national headquarters in Orlando. Throughout her time on staff she has led several conferences, international missions, and discipled staff kids and non staff kids. In the midst of all these activities, she is the High School Ministry’s intern coordinator and hires, trains, and cares for Cru interns who reach middle school and high school students.

Nicole is passionate about discipleship and loves coming alongside middle and high school students at the Summit Conference wherever they are at in their spiritual journey. Every year is a little bit different because of how customized she makes her curriculum. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nicole at nicole.staggs@cru.org.

Guest accommodations during the event, breakfast, lunch, and dinners provided at no cost. However, there may be optional activities that require a fee.

For those choosing to arrive early and/or stay late, discounted rooms are available but are the responsibility of the guest and must be settled with the hotel at check-out.

Golf Options:

Our annual Summit golf outing is on Friday, April 9 on the Estates course at The Ritz-Amelia Island. We will have an 8:30am shotgun start and we have room for 40 golfers. All are welcome and we’ve enjoyed increasing our number of women joining us for this fun event.
